The importance of sustainability in the travel and hospitality industry has grown significantly in recent years. To achieve these goals, Club Wyndham Asia via its parent company, Travel + Leisure Co. has implemented a range of sustainability initiatives across its managed resorts to reduce its carbon footprint. From reducing energy consumption to promoting local economic development, each initiative is designed to create a positive impact on the environment and local communities. A large emphasis has also been placed on eliminating single-use plastic from the club’s managed resort operations across Asia Pacific.

Over the past few years, significant progress has been achieved. This includes the replacement of 25,300 plastic room keys with biodegradable bamboo swipes per annum, the substitution of 101,000 plastic biros ordered annually with eco-friendly wheat straw pens, and the annual elimination of 34,120 single-use bottles by using bulk pump dispensers for bathroom amenities. Additionally, scatter cushions throughout the resort network are gradually being replaced with cushions filled with stuffing made from recycled plastic bottles.

Club Wyndham Asia takes significant measures to minimise its ecological footprint. Various eco-friendly practices have been implemented, ensuring that sustainability is integrated into every aspect of its resort operations. These initiatives include:

The company has embraced energy-efficient lighting, reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions at Club Wyndham Asia resorts. By utilising renewable energy sources and optimising energy usage, the company is actively working towards a more sustainable future. Additionally, the installation of electric car charging stations in some locations is also part of the company’s sustainability efforts.
The company is committed to waste minimisation and recycling promotion at Club Wyndham Asia resorts. Through comprehensive waste management programs, the club aims to reduce landfill waste and promote recycling among guests and staff. As part of its sustainability commitment, Club Wyndham Asia has transitioned from in-room collateral to a mostly digital in-room experience at its managed resorts.
Recognising the importance of water conservation, the company has implemented water-saving measures such as the use of low-flow fixtures and the adoption of water recycling systems. These initiatives not only reduce water consumption but also contribute to the preservation of local water resources.

As an example of one of many tree planting initiatives, the Club Wyndham Asia resort at Wyndham Grand Phuket Kalim Bay in Thailand is growing its own fresh produce for member and guest meals through a specially-planted orchard and herb garden.

Team members have transformed a 6,000 square metre block of land above the resort with 160 coconut trees, 180 banana trees, 180 papaya trees, and four kinds of home-grown spices: lime, kaffir lime, lemongrass and fingerroot. All are common ingredients in Thai cooking and the fresh produce grown is served to members and guests. The quantities of fruit and spices will eventually be substantial enough to consistently supply all the food and beverage outlets onsite. Guests participating in the resort’s renowned cooking classes are invited to pick their own fruit, vegetables, and herbs to feature in their dishes.

As part of this sustainability initiative, the resort’s food waste is collected, composted, and used as fertiliser for the fruit trees and herbs.

The company’s commitment to environmental sustainability has been recognised through various certifications and awards, further validating its dedication to responsible practices.

In 2019, Travel + Leisure Co. was awarded the HM Award for Best Environmental Program in the Australasian hotel industry along with Community Service of the Year award issued by The Australian Timeshare and Holiday Ownership Council, (under its former name, Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific).

Additionally, Club Wyndham Asia resort, Wyndham Grand Phuket Kalim Bay received the 2023 International Sustainable Award from the New York-based Luxury Lifestyle Awards. This award recognises and honours the hotel’s proactive efforts to implement sustainable business practices in the hospitality industry, highlighting individual programs that advance environmental progress and demonstrate leadership and commitment to a sustainable future.

Additionally, the company partnered with the Pag-asa Pawikan Protection and Conservation Centre to conserve marine turtles. This program offered approximately 3,000 staff members across Asia Pacific the opportunity to sponsor a turtle nest, resulting in the successful release of close to 140 baby turtles into the ocean this year.

In Fiji, during the refurbishment of resort apartments, quality mattresses, furniture, linens, and roof thatching are donated to villages and schools. I must say that that was an absolutely awesome family holiday,we were in the Gold Coast area for the SLS Australian Pool Rescue Championships, being Club Wyndham Asia members we thought “why not look for a Wyndham here in Oz”.

My family and I have loved visiting Wyndham resorts around the world and we were surprised to find a beautiful resort at home.

We took the opportunity to race in the champs and spend some fun time visiting movie world, the escape hut (awesome), enjoyed some waves at Kirra, hired kayaks on the tweed and my wife and teen daughters maximizing their shopping opportunities, we had fantastic weather, amazing surf conditions and took the time to relax with a local coffee and gelato.

Local shops within walking distance provide a opportunity for an early morning coffee breakfast and news paper in the morning sun while the kids sleep.
Our apartment was quite spacious and room enough for us all to have our own space (good for a dad with teenage daughters).

If you are looking for a great home base to explore the tweed or the Gold Coast you will do well to find a more central resort, walking distance to some of the gold coasts best shopping including the massive “Kirra Surf”surf shop and a short drive to numerous surf outlets and mega factory outlet centres.
If you’re there for the water, you will do well to find better surf spots on the north east coast of Australia.
If you’re in the golds for the night life, you are a short cab from all the night life you can handle in the Gold Coast strip.
If you’re looking to hit the coast, take a look at Club Wyndham Kirra Beach, you will not be disappointed.

Every year without fail we have a family outing somewhere, the whole family Mom, dad, brother, sis in law, nephew & his fiancé and my son. This time we decided to go Tasmania as we’ve never been there before. So we started planning early as it was a big group. We needed a few rooms if we stayed in a hotel or a big house or a resort. So I realised that since I became a member with Club Wyndham Asia, I can utilise the rooms at this resorts. They have very nice self contained Chalets with 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, a hall and a dining room. We needed 2 chalets hence, this resort was perfect. We like resorts with a full working kitchen as we all love to cook. So we will have breakfast in our resort before we start out the day touring around Tasmania. There were 2 nights we even cooked dinner as we got some nice fish and steaks at Wollys. Its a great family time for all of us as can have dinner together and wines. We really loved the resort so much as its very comfortable, all the amenities are there like our own home, even the beds are heated. Wow!

The overall experience at the resort was great. The receptionist were all helpful and the other amenities like the pool and sauna was fantastic. My whole family was so happy and really enjoyed our stay at Club Wyndham Seven Mile Beach. I would recommend this resort to everyone going to Tasmania as its a fantastic place -5 Stars and its also located near the airport and not far from the city, a short walk from the sea and very peaceful. Will plan the next family holiday in a Club Wyndham Asia resort for sure. So glad I joined the Club.

Family Holiday in Melbourne

Spent a wonderful week in Melbourne with my family of 9 including 3 children. The accommodation is centrally located in the heart of town and more importantly a short walk to Queen Victoria Market (an ideal place to park our vehicle overnight). It is never easy to plan accommodation for such a big travel group, especially with children on board. However, I managed to secure huge apartments which are near to one another (on the same level) and this vicinity helps to ease much on my logistics. We all had fun in Melbourne as well as a 2 nights in Philip Island for Penguins watching. The children love it!

Thailand Will Always Have A Place in our Hearts

My wife and I touched down in Phuket from Hatyai back in December 2019. We were definitely looking forward to Phuket for their beaches and the colourful night life, but at the top of our mind we are staying at the luxurious Wyndham Grand Phuket Kalim Bay, and we’ve got the Private Pool Villa!

Upon arriving at the villa, we can’t help but be amazed by the surroundings. Tranquil, peaceful and very classy! We were greeted with smiles from front to end as we walked into the reception area. Checking in was quick and easy, and off we went into our villa!

The villa is catered for 4 pax so while waiting for our 2 friends to arrive the next day, me and my wife gets the whole villa to ourselves for the first night! We spent a total of 4 nights in this beautiful villa.

Our friends arrive the next day and for dinner, we went to this beautiful restaurant (can’t remember the name as it was recommended by our friend) by the beach. It was peaceful and quiet only to be accompanied by the sound of the waves. The food was top class too!

Visiting Phuket will not be complete without going to the famous “James Bond Island”

Here we took a tour where we went for a canoeing excursion into the caves and waters around the island.

It was one of the best experiences as the boat guide spoke good English, while manoeuvring us through these caves which are at least thousands of years old.

Of course in Phuket, the food in general suits our taste buds really well. Thailand will always have a place in our hearts. Most importantly, thank you Club Wyndham Asia for giving us a chance to visit this wonderful island.

Hopefully we can start travelling soon and Club Wyndham Asia is the “go to” place to plan.

The Great Australia Holiday
Being a member of Club Wyndham Asia gives us the opportunity to travel the world. Last year my wife and I went to Australia with my in-laws. It was our first time in Melbourne and second time in Sydney. Upon arrival at the hotel, we were greeted by friendly staff of Club Wyndham Melbourne. The hotel is very cozy, spacious and have a very inviting pool. We were such in awe of the city of Melbourne, we went to a lot of tourist spots but the Great Road tour was definitely the highlight of our stay there. And as a tennis fan, seeing the Rod Laver Arena in person was such a treat. We flew to Sydney and stayed there for a couple of days and as usual Club Wyndham Sydney gave us comfort by easy check in and the staff were very accommodating. It was also a luxury having the hotel strategically located near the train stations, bars and resto not to mention a couple of blocks away from Hyde’s Park where you can relax and just enjoy your time. Of course, no one will get tired of seeing the Sydney opera house and the Harbour bridge over and over again, right? And we highly recommend a day tour at the the Blue Mountains when you visit Sydney.

We made the right choice

I’ve been to Bali for many times for the last 15 years. First time- experience staying in Wyndham Dreamland Resort Bali. We opt for Villa. We made the right choice, such a beautiful resort with great facilities. It’s a great place just laying around doing nothing … just relaxing….
